FFfAW: Will he or won’t he?

This week’s photo prompt is provided by TJ Paris. Thank you TJ!

The princess stared at the waves lashing up the coast from her large window. Today my prince would come, she thought. Her savior. The one who is going to defeat the red dragon that’s laying guard at the base of the fort and take her away. And then they’d marry, in front of the whole country, and they’d become a thing. The bards will sing songs of them, the writers will write tales of the suave and bold warrior who saved the world’s most-loved princess from the evil clutches of the red dragon.

She spent the day running around the fort, catching shrimp by the shore, and singing Taylor Swift songs aloud – much to the chagrin of the red dragon, who spouted smoke now and then from his enormous nostrils. At evenfall, the princess returned to her chambers, disappointed.

Tomorrow then, she saidย toย herself.

The prince never came. Turns out he used Apple Maps instead of Google’s, and they led him to a tornado instead of the island.

The princess died old and wizened, hopeful of the prince’s arrivalย till her last breath.

  1. This would be great as an animated film! Hilarious, Uday. The prince needs some lessons in map reading and navigational skills and the princess should realise that singing Taylor Swift songs is enough to drive any prince away! You hadn’t posted last time I checked the InLinx, so sorry I’m late responding to this. I enjoyed reading it, anyway. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Haha, thanks! Well not if the princess sang ‘Love Story’, right? ๐Ÿ˜› That’s a cheerful enough song. Maybe we can imagine that as she grew older, the songs became more darker!!

And don’t worry, I’ve actually posted it just yesterday so you’re one of the first people to comment actually! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Interesting story there, Uday. But why is it that every other fairytale princess is doomed to wait for a prince to rescue her? Why can’t they just kick the dragon in the shins and drive a sword through it’s head?

    • Well I’m all for women-power! But it wouldn’t work out in this story see, she’s on an island in the middle of the ocean. She kills the dragon and then what! She can’t swim all the way rite! ๐Ÿ˜›
